Il manifesto viene pubblicato per la prima volta in volantino, in versione inglese, col titolo «Vital English Art» e letto da Marinetti durante la mostra dei futuristi alla Doré Galleries di Londra (23 aprile - maggio 1914). Successivamente viene pubblicato sulla rivista THE OBSERVER (London, 7 giugno 1914). Segue poi l'edizione francese in volantino, letta l'11 giugno 1914 all'Università di Cambridge. Rispetto alla versione inglese, in questa edizione è aggiunto il cappello mentre i punti conclusivi sono ridotti da sei a quattro, inglobando il punto 5 della versione inglese nel punto 4, ed escludendo del tutto il punto 6, con l'aggiunta di una frase. La traduzione italiana esce su LACERBA Anno II, n. 14, 15 luglio 1914.
This manifesto was first published as a leaflet, in an English version, under the title “Vital English Art”, and was read by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti during the Futurists’ exhibition at the Doré Galleries in London (23 April – May 1914). It was subsequently published in the magazine The Observer (London, 7 June 1914). It was followed by the French edition, issued as a leaflet on 11 June 1914 at the University of Cambridge. Compared to the English version, this edition includes an added introductory heading, while the concluding points are reduced from six to four: point 5 of the English version is incorporated into point 4, and point 6 is omitted entirely, with the addition of a new sentence. The Italian translation of the french version appeared in Lacerba, Year II, no. 14, 15 July 1914.
"Je suis un poète futuriste italien qui aime passionnément l'Angleterre. Je veux guérir l'art anglais de la plus grave des maladies: le passéisme. J'ai donc tous les droits de parler haut et sans périphrases et de donner, avec mon ami Nevinson, peintre futuriste anglais, le signal du combat".
