The instructions are handprinted on the left-hand pages and the drawings are on the right. As one moves ahead, the captions get longer and the drawings more complicated, progressing from "the first point is located at the center of the page", facing a simple cross, to a full page and a half of description sandwiching an image of the eighth point and its ten-line, eight-point configuration".
