"Daniel Spoerri's invitation/menu for his Restaurant de la Galerie J performance and exhibition is another representative example of how the Nouveau Réalistes put ephemera to work. For the duration of his exhibition at Galerie J. (Paris), Spoerri prepared a variety of meals; he was assisted by notable critics and poets who provided table service. The menu, laced with double entendre an art-world innuendo, set of the meals for the eleven-day event, including the daily prices and the names of the servers, who included Pierre Restany and John Ashberry. This invitation/menu functions as primary registration of the restaurant performance". (Leiber)
